Here are three different interpretations of Nancy from my collection. The comic strip Nancy was created by Ernie Bushmiller and first appeared in print on January 2, 1933. It originally started as a part of another comic strip called Fritzi Ritz, which Bushmiller took over in 1925. Fritzi Ritz featured the adventures of a flapper named Fritzi, and it was quite popular at the time.

Nancy, who is Fritzi’s niece, was introduced to the strip in 1933. Her character quickly became a favorite among readers, leading to the comic strip being renamed “Nancy” in 1938. The strip is known for its simple, minimalist art style and straightforward humor.

Ernie Bushmiller continued to draw “Nancy” until his death in 1982. After his death, several artists took over the strip, including Mark Lasky, Jerry Scott, and Guy and Brad Gilchrist. Each brought their own touch to the comic while maintaining its traditional style and humor.

In recent years, “Nancy” has seen a resurgence in popularity under the direction of Olivia Jaimes, who took over the strip in 2018. Jaimes has introduced a contemporary feel to the strip while keeping its classic charm, resonating with both old and new audiences.
