Butch, created by Larry Reynolds (1912-2002), was a large simple soul who happened to be a thief. His escapades played out in Collier’s Magazine before relocating in Look Magazine and ran until that magazine’s demise in 1971.

Butch was always kind and sympathetic to his robbery victims, much to the dismay of his partner in crime, Slug. I remember  flipping through the pages of Look Magazine in eager anticipation of seeing Larry Reynolds’ feature. I really enjoyed the simple humor and elegant styling of Butch.
