101) Old Time Religion…

Religious themes often show up in comic strips. Johnny Hart was notorious for putting his beliefs into B.C. And, of course, a lot of cartoonists do something special around Christmas and Easter. Some even give a nod to Chanukah, Passover and Kwanza. There were a few strips that always reflected a religious slant such as Brother Juniper by Fred McCarthy, Sherman on the Mount by Walt Lee, and Brother Sebastian by Chon Day

(My personal favorite is Toby, Robot Satan by Corey Pandolph, which more accurately reflects my religious views.)

Posted above is a specialty drawing by New York based cartoonist/illustrator Corey Pandolph. His Toby, Robot Satan comic strip tells of an insane robot who thinks he is the Devil. Toby haunts the life of Morris Gumboot, a bartender at a local dive.

Pandolph has also lent his talents to the Barkeater Lake comic strip and succeeded Phil Frank on The Elderberries comic strip.

He has also contributed to Mad Magazine and The New Yorker.
