Mother Goose & Grimm by Mike Peters 5-15-1988

In my last post I wrote about my great admiration for Mike Peters. Here’s an original piece from my collection by this fantastic cartoonist.

Being the geek that I am, I looked forward to seeing the Zack Snyder version of Justice League on HBOMAX. I was not disappointed. It outshines the tepid Joss Whedon version a thousandfold. Snyder’s JL is epic, giving much more depth to the characters and more gravitas to the threat facing our heroes. It ran for four hours, but despite knowing the basic story arc, I never felt bored. While I may have some fanboy issues with the interpretation of Aquaman and Flash, I love Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Henry Cavill as Superman.

I do enjoy the Marvel Cinematic Universe. WandaVision was quite enjoyable and compelling, but, as I mentioned in a earlier post, I am more of a DC fan. There’s way too much reliance on Stark Industries’ input and effect on the other characters, especially Spiderman. I think Tony Stark is an asshole and very off putting. My favorite Marvel Cinema character is Captain America as Chris Evans manages to convincingly instill humanity into this iconic role.

I think the Multiverse concept is a boon for creators, giving them the power to envision a different spin on classic characters. The idea of continuity and consistency between different creative teams can (and should) be ignored.
