The Ryatts, created by Cal Alley in 1954, was a wholesome family sitcom strip. Mom and Dad Ryatt had five children, Missy, Kitty, Pam, Tad and Winky. Most of the humor centered around the family interactions in a very middle class white environment. Jack Elrod took over the strip when Cal Alley retired. Elrod’s style had a bolder line, but still captured the essence of Alley’s work. The strip was retired in 1994.
