Moose by Bob Weber Sr. 9-18-1969

The comic strip Moose (also titled Moose Miller and Moose & Molly) ran from 1965 until it was retired in 2020, just months before the death of its creator, Bob Weber Sr. It featured Moose, an unambitious man who never held on to an job for more than a day, and Molly, his ever loving wife, who never seemed upset by her husband’s slacker ways. Weber used a wonderful ‘big-foot’ cartoon style to portray his lazy, mooching, but lovable oaf. Supporting cast included their three children, Molly’s nosy live-in mother, assorted pets and neighbors Chester and Clara Crabtree.

The strip posted above reminded me that Jayme and I have been in our house for 23 years now. We’ve done a lot of changes to the house since we first moved in, but as I and the house get older, I feel less inclined to make any radical improvements due to lack of interest, lack of energy and caution over funds. I’ve become the neighbor that no one needs to keep up with.
