One of my favorite cartoonists is also a nuclear physicist. Bud Grace has a Ph.D. in physics from Florida State University. In 1979 he decided to become a cartoonist, selling to Playboy, Hustler and other more mainstream publications. In 1988 he launched his comic strip Ernie (which was later retitled The Piranha Club) with King Features Syndicate. He also produced, under the pseudonym Buddy Valentine, a short-lived strip about two toddlers, Babs and Aldo. While the Ernie/Piranha Club strip was well received in the United States, it was a mega hit in Europe.

Grace retired in 2018.
