Ella Cinders by Charles Plumb 9-13-1926

Ella Cinders, a syndicated comic strip written by Bill Conselman and drawn by Charles Plumb, was launched on June 1, 1925. The original strip posted above was one of the first strips added to my original comic art collection way back in the 1970s. I was not a big fan of this Cinderella inspired feature, but added it to my collection as a nod to my mother who, in her youth, was a dead ringer for Ella. My mother had told me of her fondness for the strip and how her friends and classmates used to remark on the resemblance.

The strip was popular enough to inspire a movie adaptation in 1926 in addition to Big Little Books and comic books.

The strip ended in 1961.
