George Swanson (1897-1981) created a number of comic strips such as Salesman Sam (1920-1927) and High Pressure Pete (1927-1937), but is best known for The Flop Family which ran from 1943 to 1981.

The Flops were a typical dysfunctional all American family featuring Mr. Flop, the overbearing head of the household, his scheming nagging wife, Helen, and their three children, conniving Willie, shiftless Otto, and boy crazy Greta.

The Flop Family was a joke-a-day strip that played with the dynamic of the family’s interactions.
