The Saturday Evening Post Magazine was the springboard for many comic features. As mentioned in previous posts, it was where Little Lulu and Henry first appeared. It was also where Hazel by Ted Key premiered.

Hazel ran from 1943 until the magazine’s final issue in 1969. It was then picked up by King Features Syndicate, first run panels appearing in daily newspapers until Ted Key’s retirement in1993.

Key adapted his comic panel into a successful television sitcom starring Shirley Booth that ran from 1961 to 1965.
