Lee Lorenz is yet another American cartoonist who is best known for his contributions to The New Yorker magazine. A graduate of Pratt Institute, his first professional cartoon appeared in Colliers magazine in 1956. He became a contract cartoonist for The New Yorker in 1958. The magazine has published over 1,600 of his cartoons. Lorenz also served as art editor from 1973 to 1993 before serving as cartoon editor until 1997.

In 1995 Lorenz received the Gag Cartoon Award from the National Cartoonists Society.
