Original Grin and Bear It by George Lichty 3-30-year unknown

George Lichtenstein (1905-1983), AKA George Lichty, created the single panel comic Grin and Bear It in 1932. In 1939, Arthur Erenberg took on writing duties. Lichty and Erenberg left the strip in 1974, but the feature continued to run with a succession of artists and writers until 2015.

As you can see from the original art shown above, Lichty grouped a number of single panel gags for the Grin and Bear It Sunday offering.

Lichty’s loose and organic drawing style has influenced many artists.
