53) Our House is a very, very, very fine house…
Jayme and I have been living in our house for over twenty years. We bought the house in 1998 from Susie Strobl, daughter of Anthony Strobl, a noted comic artist and animator who passed away in 1991. It was their family home.
I think Susie liked the idea of selling the house to a cartoonist with a ten year old daughter because she was ten years old when she moved in with her cartoonist dad. Tony Strobl was born in Cleveland. I was born in Cleveland. I think the comparison stops there. Strobl was a prolific and immensely talented cartoonist. And I’m…oh, never mind.
The house has gone through a lot of transitions since the Goldstein Family has taken possession, but there are a few remnants of the Strobl years. Guarding the pool area is a huge concrete Tiki god. I don’t know if this is Strobl’s handiwork or was commissioned, but it is an imposing figure. And it weighs a ton.
