42) More of the Rocky Road to Writing…
When I ended my relationship with the publisher of the first Mythfits Adventure, I decided to self publish. I had two completed novels and a start on the third Mythfits book. Since I had no illusions of becoming rich or famous for my writing, going to a “vanity press” didn’t faze me. In fact, self publishing seemed to be on the rise for a lot of aspiring authors. I just wanted to tell my stories and hope some people would read and be entertained by them. I enjoyed writing them more than any other creative effort I’ve ever undertaken.
I re-edited the first book, whittling down the word count and correcting a few mistakes that weren’t caught by my previous publisher. As mentioned in a previous post, I got Ben Dunn to do the cover illustrations. I utilized Outskirts Press to produce the physical copies of the first two books. Outskirts did a nice job and paved the way to placing the titles on Amazon.com and the Barnes and Noble website. The third Mythfits Adventure is, for now, available only digitally on Kindle and Nook. I’ve received some nice comments and reviews for my work, which can be seen at https://www.themythfits.com.
