Richard Sala (1954-2020) earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Mills College. He went on to work as a freelance illustrator before tapping into his true love of comic books and horror films. His first comic book, Night Drive, was published in 1984.

His unique drawing style and storytelling skills made him a favorite with comic art fans and fellow cartoonists.
