Henry Martin (1925-2020) was an American cartoonist known for his work in publications such as The New Yorker and Ladies’ Home Journal. He began his career in the 1950s. Martin’s cartoons often featured humorous and witty takes on everyday life and societal norms. He had a distinctive style, characterized by clean lines and a gentle, understated sense of humor. His last The New Yorker cartoon was published in 1999, just one year before his death at age 94.

His work appeared in The New Yorker for several decades, making him a well-recognized figure in the world of magazine cartooning. Martin also created illustrations for children’s books, including the “Miss Tizzy” series, and his cartoons were compiled in several collections over the years.

In addition to his cartooning, Martin was known for his involvement in the arts community and his contributions to the field of cartooning, mentoring younger artists and supporting various artistic endeavors.
