Tom Wilson was a cartoonist best known for creating the comic strip Ziggy. Wilson introduced Ziggy in 1969 through a series of greeting cards for American Greetings, where he worked as a creative director. The comic strip debuted in newspapers on June 27, 1971. The character Ziggy is depicted as a short, round, bald man who often finds himself in humorous and sometimes poignant situations. The strip is known for its gentle humor and often deals with themes of perseverance and optimism despite life’s challenges. In 1987, Tom Wilson’s son, Tom Wilson II, took over the daily production of the comic strip. Despite this transition, Tom Wilson Sr. remained involved as a consultant until his death in 2011.

My blog is now a year old. I’ve enjoyed doing it. It unexpectedly became an outlet for my ranting against right wing politics and Trump. But I even enjoyed that to a certain extent.

I’ve also had the opportunity to share some great comic art from my collection and some art and anecdotes of my own cartoonist’s journey.

I hope my handful of readers will stick around for more comics, opinions and rants. Perhaps some new readers will stumble upon this website and enjoy its contents. We’ll see…
