360) Rivets…

Original Rivets by George Sixta 10-10-1955

George Sixta (1921–2011) was an American cartoonist best known for his comic strip Rivets. The strip centered on the humorous antics of a family of dogs, primarily focusing on the lovable but often befuddled pooch named Rivets.

Rivets was first syndicated in 1964 and continued its run until 1985. The comic strip gained a decent following during its time, though it might not be as widely remembered as some other strips from the same era. Sixta’s drawing style was distinct, and his humor was gentle, making Rivets a favorite for many who enjoyed family-oriented humor.

Over the years, the characters and situations in the strip evolved, but the central focus remained on Rivets and his interactions with both human and animal characters. The strip often featured everyday situations, misadventures, and light-hearted comedic moments that many readers found endearing.

Sixta’s work on Rivets has been collected in several book editions, which can sometimes be found in second-hand bookstores or online marketplaces for fans and collectors.
