Skippy was a very popular comic strip that ran from 1923 to 1945. It was adapted into movies, novels and a radio show. The strip’s creator, Percy Crosby (1891-1964), was an author and illustrator who truly suffered for his art and outspoken political views. He spent the last sixteen years of his life in a New York mental hospital.
