Original Tank McNamara by Jeff Millar and Bill Hinds 10-19-year unknown

Tank McNamara debuted in 1974 with Jeff Millar as writer and Bill Hinds as artist. When Millar passed away in 2012 Hinds assumed full duties as writer/artist.

The strip revolves around Tank McNamara, a former NFL defensive lineman who transitioned his career to become a sports television reporter. The humor rifts off of American athletes of various disciplines, enabling some commentary that delves into politics and societal events.

I am not a sports fan, but I find Bill Hinds’ artistry to be exceptional and worth looking at despite sports humor that often doesn’t engage me. Hinds also created the sports inspired comic strips Buzz Beamer and Cleats.
